So many good things going on today! One of the biggest DOMA, and then Hawaii! I am so pleased to announce Hawaii has taken a step towards marriage equality. Governor Neil Abercrombie signed into law a civil unions bill! This new law is comparable to an everything but marriage law. It affords all of the legal rights and obligaitons of marriage to couples entering into a civil union.
This is great news, It is not marriage but it is a step in that direction! Lets keep in mind this law does not take effect until January 1, 2012. It is likely the bigots will come out in force to repeal this law in any way possible, so we have to be ready. If or someone you know lives in the great state of Hawaii please take the time to thank the leadership!
Its a good day to be gay!
Spectrum Blog Spot is a political blog dedicated to bringing you news and information surrounding the full spectrum of queer issues in America. We will track and expose those committed to spreading hate and lies about the LGBTQI community. In this day and age most people have progressed far beyond the irrational bigotry of the past. However there are still those stuck in the past, we will track bigots like Peter LaBarbera, Brian Brown, Maggie Gallagher, and many others.

BIG news on DOMA!
DOMA (Defense of marriage act) is a discriminatory act passed in the nineties to "protect" traditional marriage. The act created a permanent ban on the recognition of same sex couples in federal benefits and laws. There are about 1000 rights and benefits currently denied under this awful law! It also states no state need recognize other states same sex marriages.
Legally married same sex couples recently challenged the law in Massachusetts. These couples where legally denied the rights and benefits of the federal government for no reason other then they where gay, in love, married, and the same sex! Thanks to the good folks at Gay Lesbian Advocates and Defenders they had their day in court and won!
We always expect an appeal and that is exactly what we are seeing in this case. I was pleasantly surprised to hear the possession of the president today!
Today President Obama decided today to finally NOT defend DOMA in court any longer! It was repulsive the last time the Department of Justice defended this law. Thank you Mr. President, now all we need to do is get you to support same sex marriage.

Its in Porno Pete is not a homophobe!
This just in Porno Pete thinks the 2 minutes it took to take the Wright,Adams and Bernat Homophobia Scale makes up for the decades of hate spewing lies.
Little Petite says "Well, I just took the “Homophobia Questionnaire” promoted by PBS’ “Frontline” and it’s official: I am “non-homophobic.”
It is so funny Peter seems to be on this kick of trying to show people he is not a homophobe ever since his group was labeled a hate group by the southern poverty law center. Funny people know better peter is known for calling the community child molesting and unworthy of basic human rights. oh well the world continues to turn...

Chai Feldblum
Chai Feldblum One of the authors of the AIDS inclusive Americans with disabilities act (ADA) and the Employment non discrimination act (ENDA) has been appointed to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)
Of course this was initially a recess appointment originally because of the obstruction in the congress. However after the vote in the senate this is not an official appointment. This is great news! of course the far right is crying fowl because they see the writing on the wall...But who cares what they think! I am just glad they got it done!

Don't Ask Don't Tell is in the trash!
Today our president did what should have been done many may years ago! He repealed an injustice in American history. The legalization of discrimination, Don't ask Don't Tell. As he signed the stand alone bill into law I must say I cant help but feel as if this is a turning point in American history. No one can deny the queer movement is reaching a level of equality not seen before. I want to thank all of you who have worked tirelessly on this important issue! Danny Roberts has made an impact in this area in the early years of this issue. I would like to put out a separate thank you to him.
Don't forget to call your senator and say Thank You! The ball is moving lets keep it that way! There are more mountains to move, and more hearts and minds to change! Thank you!!
